E-mail Append: The Good, the Bad, the…

I know what you are thinking: unleash the SPAM!

Stick with me for two minutes and let me share with you a story.  I am a Brooks Brothers shopper (I know you are both surprised and laughing) - one day an email message shows up in my inbox.  Did I sign up at www.brooksbrothers.com - the answer - no! Sound the alarm, they just sent me commerical unsoliciated email call the police immediately.

What did Allen do?  I bought two shirts and a tie.

What is E-mail Appending?  Wikipedia Style

An e-mail append takes a portion of your customer database - those with whom you have an established relationship - finds (matches) corresponding e-mail addresses and gives these customers a chance to decide if they want to hear from you via e-mail.  It then appends these e-mail addresses to your database and sends it back to you.

Do you consider the email I got as SPAM?

In the world of online (digital) marketing content and relevance is still king.  I am a Brooks Brothers customer, the offer was not only relevant it was compelling - so the answer is - no I did not view it as SPAM.  E-mail appending can be a powerful tool to establish a digital communication channel with your customers.  When done correctly (check out best practices) the benefits far outway the risks.

If you would like to learn more about how Mansell Group can help you grow your email database through performing an E-mail Append (of course the correct way) - drop us a line.

One Last Thing….

You should choose Mansell Group because E-mail Appending is much more than matching a database to a database.  To truly engage the customer and get them excited about staying on your email list - you need to sprinkle some of that relevance and compelling content stuff on it.  Don’t waste the chance to engage an e-mail address by just “matching and blasting”.
